How Glass Infill Works in Avalon Railing
Infill Options
The Avalon Aluminum Railing system offers multiple infill styles, and glass slats/balusters are one of them:
- Glass slats/balusters sit inside the rail channels between the top and bottom rails to create a near-clear barrier.
- Avalon uses a ProLock® locking strip system in the frame to hold infill components secure and prevent rattling or movement.
Design & Aesthetics
- Glass infill provides a clean, modern appearance with excellent sightlines — ideal for decks with views or where you want minimal visual interruption.
- It pairs with Avalon’s three top rail profile options (Tristan, Pellinore, Oberon) to fit different architectural styles.
Installation Basics
- Glass balusters or glass slats fit into the top and bottom rail tracks and are held by rails and locking strips.
- A top rail cap is required to finish the railing (sold separately).
- Posts, brackets, and rails from the Avalon system remain the same as for other infill types; only the infill material changes.
Strength & Safety
- The glass used is typically tempered safety glass to meet guardrail code standards while still allowing light and visibility.
- Because the infill components are rigid and set into a secure aluminum frame, they contribute to the overall structural performance of the railing panel.
Typical Application
- Residential decks and balconies — where unobstructed views are desired.
- Porch railings — glass infill can be used where code allows.

The Avalon glass railing system by RDI offers the durability and beauty of a powder coated aluminum railing with tempered glass balusters. This system creates a non-obstructed view with a classic look that requires zero maintenance. No glass baluster connectors needed. Balusters fit snuggly into upper and lower housing.

• The limited lifetime warranty covers single-family residential properties only. This limited warranty extends to the original purchaser and one (1)
individual transferee as specified herein.
• A twenty (20) year limited warranty covers any other type of building or property including those owned by corporations, governmental agencies,
partnerships, trusts, religious organizations, schools, condominiums, homeowner associations, cooperative housing arrangements and apartment
buildings. The warranty period will be twenty (20) years following the original date of Product purchase.
