What It Is

The Deckorators Composite Structural Post Mount is a structural railing post system designed to give you a strong, maintenance-friendly support post for your railing. Unlike a simple post sleeve or decorative cover, this kit provides an aluminum core with composite trim so the post is both structurally sound and finished in a deck-friendly look.

What’s Included

Composite Structural Post Mount kit includes:

  • One aluminum post with a welded mounting plate (this is your load-bearing core)
  • One composite vinyl (PVC) post sleeve wrapped around the aluminum core
  • Two composite post skirt halves (trim at the deck surface)
  • One post cap to finish the top
  • Two leveling plates
  • Four leveling set screws for precise height/position adjustment

This combination gives both the strength of metal and the finished look of composite/vinyl trim.

How do I clean my composite deck or rail?
It’s important to keep leaves and other materials that can stain off your deck year-round. Sweep off the deck boards and make sure to clean out the spaces between the boards. We recommend using soap or detergent mixed with water to remove any marks or dirt from your deck boards. Power washers can be used to clean deck boards; however, a fan-tip nozzle on the lowest setting.
Can Deckorators railing be used for structural applications?
No. While Deckorators railing offers superior surface integrity and strength, it is not suitable for structural applications.
How do varying weather conditions affect Deckorators railing during installation?
Deckorators performs well in various weather conditions. During installation, it contracts slightly in cold weather and expands in hot weather. We recommend keeping the material on-site for at least 48 hours before installation to allow it to acclimate. Refer to the Railing tab on the Installation Instructions page for spacing guidelines to ensure proper expansion and contraction.
Do I need special tools to install Deckorators railing?
Conventional tools for cutting, drilling, and nailing can be used with Deckorators railing. We recommend using a sharp carbide-tipped saw blade for cutting. For your safety, remember to wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Reference the Railing tab on the Installation Instructions page for railing instructions specific to each product line.
