What Excalibur Cap Rail Brackets by RDI Are
These are specialized mounting brackets designed to let you attach a custom cap rail or handrail on top of the upper rail of an RDI Excalibur steel railing panel. Instead of using the Excalibur system “as-is,” these brackets give you the flexibility to add a wood or metal top rail for a more finished, traditional, or custom look while maintaining the structural integrity of the system.
What They Do
- Mount a custom handrail or cap rail: These brackets sit on top of the existing Excalibur upper rail and secure your custom rail of choice (often wood or a secondary metal rail).
- Used for level and stair applications: The kit works whether your rail run is flat on a deck perimeter or angled on stairs.
- Flush mount design: They’re described as flush mount cap rail brackets, meaning they attach closely to the existing rail surface without large gaps.

A typical 4-pack of these brackets includes:
- 4 cap rail mounting brackets — enough for a short run of railing or one rail section
- Stainless-steel installation hardware — screws and fasteners for outdoor durability
- Installation instructions — guides you on where and how to position them on the upper rail
How They’re Installed
- Position the brackets on the top of the Excalibur upper rail where you want your custom handrail.
- Secure the brackets with the supplied stainless-steel hardware through the Excalibur upper rail.
- Place your cap rail or handrail onto the brackets and attach it according to your rail’s material (e.g., wood screws through the bracket plate into the wood rail).
- Check level and secure: Whether on a stair or level run, ensure alignment before fully tightening all fasteners.

• A fifteen (15) year limited warranty covers single-family residential properties only. This limited warranty extends to the original purchaser and one (1)
individual transferee as specified herein.
• A ten (10) year limited warranty covers any other type of building or property including those owned by corporations, governmental agencies,
partnerships, trusts, religious organizations, schools, condominiums, homeowner associations, cooperative housing arrangements and apartment
buildings.
• The warranty period shall begin the date of Product purchase
