Level or Straight Glass Baluster connectors by DekPro
What These Are
Glass Baluster Connectors by DekPro are specialized connector pieces (“connector shoes” or baluster shoes) designed to secure tempered glass balusters into a deck railing system — especially when using DekPro glass balusters. They act as the hardware interface between the top and bottom rails and the glass panel, holding the glass securely in place so it stays upright and stable.
How They Work
Unlike aluminum solid balusters (which can slide over a hidden insert), glass balusters need connector shoes that create a channel at the top and bottom rails where the glass sits. These connectors:
- Mount into the rails — screws fasten the connector shoe to both the top rail and bottom rail so there’s a recess for the glass.
- Hold tempered glass panels — each connector shoe cradles a panel of glass, typically 4″ wide tempered glass baluster.
- Increase installation height slightly — they may add about 3/4″ to the baluster height because of the connector’s thickness.
- Come in straight and stair versions — straight for level runs, and angled for stair sections (matching typical stair pitches).
After the connectors are mounted, the glass baluster slides into the shoe channels and is held snugly between rails. Often installers will add a small bead of silicone or glazing tape inside the shoe for a tight, vibration-free fit.
