Metro Screenworks’ 17/14 mesh is a heavy-duty black insect screen intended mainly for pool cages, lanais, porches, patios, windows, and doors.
“17/14” describes the weave: approximately 17 strands per inch in one direction and 14 in the other. Compared with finer 18/16 or 20/20 screening, it generally provides:

My take: 17/14 is a strong choice for a porch or pool enclosure when durability, airflow, and visibility matter more than blocking the smallest bugs. For ordinary window screens it may be heavier and more expensive than necessary; for coastal areas with no-see-ums, use a finer mesh. When replacing existing material, verify the spline size because the heavier fabric may not work well with the old spline.
