Square Conversion Base Adapter
What it is:
- The base adapter is an accessory that lets you convert a post cap (or post-cap light) from Aurora to fit a different sized post than the cap was originally built for. In other words: if you have, say, a 4″×4″ post cap but your post is 5″×5″ (or vice-versa), the adapter lets you adjust the base so the cap fits properly.
- Essentially, it replaces the “original base” of the cap with a different size base so that the cap top remains the same design/finish but the base dimension matches your post.
- Aurora describes this as “Conversion Bases allow Aurora Deck Lights to be mounted on a variety of different post sizes.”
Key Specs & Features:
- Supported post sizes: According to Aurora’s spec, these base adapters are available to fit posts of size 3″, 3½″, 4″, 4⅜″, 4⅝″, 5″, 5½″, 6″, 6½″.
- The adapter is field‐installed: You remove the existing base of the cap/light (typically 4 screws) then install the new adapter base and then mount the cap.
- Guideline: The base adapter should be slightly larger than the post by ~1/8″ to 1/4″ to allow sliding fit & thermal expansion.
- Compatibility: The adapter works only with Aurora caps/post‐cap lights. Not a universal cap for other brands.
