Driwall Rainscreen by Keene
What Is Rainscreen
A rainscreen is an exterior wall assembly strategy that creates a ventilated air gap between your water-resistive barrier (WRB) and the cladding (siding, stucco, stone, etc.). This gap allows water that penetrates the outer finish to drain away and air to circulate, helping the wall dry properly and protecting the structure from moisture-related damage such as rot and mold.
Keene Building Products specializes in entangled polymer rainscreen materials — lightweight mats or strips that create this air gap while being easy to install and resistant to rot, mold, and moisture.
How Keene Rainscreen Helps Your Wall System
Moisture Management:
By separating the cladding from the weather barrier with a drainage mat (like Driwall), any water that gets past the cladding can drain downward instead of being trapped against the sheathing or wood frame — greatly reducing rot and mildew risk.
Ventilation & Drying:
Air can move behind the cladding through the rainscreen gap, helping the wall dry more quickly after rain or condensation. This circulation helps extend the life of siding and finishes.
Code-Ready & Durable Materials:
Keene’s products are generally made from durable polymer that doesn’t absorb moisture, resist mold, and won’t degrade like wood strapping can. Driwall options are available in different thicknesses to help meet drainage gap recommendations in many modern building codes.
Easy Installation:
These rainscreen products are lightweight and come in rolls, making them easier and faster to install than constructing a cavity solely with lumber.
Typical Applications
- Stucco Walls: Often paired with a rainscreen mat and weep screed for moisture evacuation.
- Stone, Brick, or Manufactured Stone Veneers: Thicker mats (like 10 mm) provide a robust drainage space.
- Wood & Fiber-Cement Siding: Easy-Fur and mid-range mats help keep siding dry and vented.
- Lap Siding & Other Claddings: Helps air movement behind the outer surface, reducing long-term moisture issues.

About this product…
Driwall Rainscreen by Keene is a geometric patterned drainage and ventilation mat for exterior wall systems. Used in both commercial and residential environments, this product is extremely versatile. The Driwall Rainscreen is heat-laminated to a non-woven lightweight, breathable fabric, designed to eliminate moisture and moisture vapor in masonry and other siding. The entangled net eliminates incidental moisture problems in most exterior veneer applications, including stucco, manufactured stone, and plank siding. Supremely useful in cavity wall designs and rainscreen systems in which an airspace is needed for drainage and ventilation, as, when used, no mortar or other debris can enter the cavity. This product is robustly dependable on protecting your home or building from unwanted moisture or water. The Driwall Rainscreen UV, will meet your unique needs. The thickness (.25 in), length (45 ft.), and area covered (180 square ft.). The Driwall Rainscreen UV’s core is polypropylene and is UV stabilized. Further, the Driwall Rainscreen UV option has UV stable fabric and strength bars to increase compression resistance, making for long-term UV resistance in exterior wall systems. The applications for the Driwall Rainscreen UV option includes: metal panels, wood siding, open joint cladding, and composite cladding.
