Material & Quality
- Crafted from Western Red Cedar: Made from quality laminated clear cedar, prized for its natural beauty and outdoor durability. Cedar resists moisture and insects better than many woods when properly sealed.
- Pre‑drilled and ready to mount: The finial comes with a pre‑drilled base and lag screw so it can be threaded into the top of a wooden post after finishing.
Installation
- Seal before installing: As with all cedar finials, apply a good exterior‑grade primer, paint, stain, or preservative to all surfaces — including the base — before installation to prevent cracking and weather damage.
- Mounting: After sealing, insert the lag screw into the finial’s base, align it atop your post (or over a flat post cap), and thread it in — pre‑drilling the post can make installation easier.
- Optional caulking: Applying exterior caulk around the base gives a snug seal and helps keep moisture out.
Style & Aesthetic
- Cobblestone Profile: A rounded, textured shape that’s a bit more distinctive than a simple ball or pointed finial. Its “cobblestone” appearance gives posts a soft, tactile look that works well with rustic, traditional, or cottage‑style outdoor spaces.

Preparation:
- Nantucket Cobblestone Finials are constructed of quality laminated clear Western Red Cedar.
- They should be sealed BEFORE installation with an oil base primer, paint, stain or preservative to ensure long life.
- These should be applied to all surfaces INCLUDING the base.
