How It Works
Deck Screws with Setting Tool: Special deck screws are driven vertically through the deck board into the framing using a Cortex setting tool. This tool helps set both the fastener and prepare a hole for the plug all in one step.
Color-Matched Plugs: After the screws are installed, matching plugs (made from decking material or close match) are inserted to conceal the screw heads, blending in with the deck surface.
Universal Use: Cortex fasteners are designed for a variety of decking materials — including PVC, composite, and capstock boards — and can be used across the full deck surface, including first/last boards, edges, and stairs.
Drive System: Many Cortex screws use a TORX® ttap driving system, which reduces cam-out (slipping) and makes installation smoother for both pros and DIYers.
