CONCEALoc Groove Cutting Router Bit
What It Is
TimberTech CONCEALoc Groove Cutting Router Bit (also listed as similar options like CONCEALoc Groove Cutting Router Bit and TimberTech Concealoc Groove Router Bit) is a router bit designed to cut a precise groove in solid or square-edged decking boards. It’s part of the TimberTech CONCEALoc hidden fastener system, which lets you install deck boards with a clean, fastener-free look.
Key Features
- Purpose-built for CONCEALoc: Creates the exact groove needed for CONCEALoc hidden fasteners to fit properly in boards that don’t already have grooves.
- Carbide-tipped cutting edges: Durable, sharp cutting surfaces that last longer and cut cleanly through composite deck boards.
- 1/4″ Shank Diameter: Fits most handheld routers or router tables with a 1/4″ collet.
- 3-wing cutter design: Helps make smooth, consistent grooves as you route.
- Works on installed boards: Some versions are designed with sealed bearings so you can route grooves even after decking is attached to joists — useful if you’re retrofitting a deck.
What It’s Used For
- Hidden fastener installation: When using the CONCEALoc system, grooving solid boards is necessary so the hidden clips (and then the screws) sit flush and secure. This bit lets you do that accurately and efficiently.
- DIY or professional decking: Ideal if you’re installing a deck with TimberTech (or similar composite boards) and want a sleek finish without visible screw heads.
About this product...
TimberTech CONCEALoc Router Bit is custom-designed for TimberTech to cut a groove in solid deck boards to create a channel to accept a CONCEALoc fastener. This 3-wing cutter has a 1/4" shank to work with any size router and has a high-quality carbide tip to ensure consistent cuts and longer life. With the reconfigured sealed bearings, the Router bit will route right over a joist even after the board has been fastened to the joist to allow for hidden fastening on non-grooved planks.
