Installation Guidance
-
Use a high-torque drill (they recommend a ½″ variable-speed drill, 18 V if cordless) to drive the screws.
-
For proper load transfer, they recommend that the threads fully engage into the rim joist, and the tip of the screw should protrude past the inside face of the rim joist.
-
Proper spacing is important — there is a pattern / table in their tech bulletin for where screws should be placed.

Durability
-
Limitations
-
Not for Use on Masonry / Concrete: According to their installation guide, LedgerLOK is not designed for attachment to masonry, stucco, or brick veneer.
-
Tool Required: Because no pre-drill is needed, you still need a strong drill / driver to drive the screws properly without damaging the head.
-
Edge / Spacing Considerations: Must follow the minimum spacing and edge-distance guidelines in the technical bulletin.
-
Why Use LedgerLOK (Pros)
- Speed & Efficiency: Saves a ton of labor time compared to lag screws or through-bolts, especially if you skip pre-drilling.
- Strong & Safe Connection: Designed for structural loads on a deck ledger, so it’s more reliable / code-friendly than using random screws.
- Durable in Treated Wood: Because it's designed for ACQ-treated lumber, it's very suitable for many deck builds where the ledger is pressure-treated.
- Cleaner Finish: The flat head version can sit flush with the ledger, which is nice if you’re trying to minimize protruding fasteners.
- Reduced Risk of Stripping: With the hex head version, bit engagement is stronger, reducing the chance of stripping out during installation.
