Screen by the Roll for Freestyle Screen Enclosures
What “Screen by the Roll” Means for Freestyle Enclosures
Screen by the roll refers to the mesh material you buy in long continuous lengths — typically 50 ft or 100 ft — and then cut to fit the aluminum screen frame you’re building for your Freestyle/Madden enclosure. The EncloSure™ system uses high-quality mesh with flat spline-locked installation, so the screen is stretched and locked into the frame groove with a spline roller tool.
Typical Mesh Specs
- 18 × 14 mesh: Standard screening density that balances airflow, visibility, and insect protection — the most common for patios and porch enclosures.
- Widths: From roughly 5′ up to 9′ or wider rolls help minimize seams on larger panels.
- Fiberglass vs aluminum: Fiberglass is more flexible and easier to work with, while aluminum offers extra rigidity and longevity.
Installation Notes
- Cut to size: Measure your enclosure panel opening and cut the screening a few inches larger than needed to allow it to wrap into the frame groove.
- Use flat spline: Press the mesh into the extrusion channel with flat spline (sold separately) to lock it in place securely.
- Roller tool: A spline roller helps seat the mesh and spline evenly without wrinkles or sagging.
