Intermediate cable Post for RDI Transform Cable Rail
What It Is
The intermediate cable post is a non-structural support post designed specifically for RDI Transform Cable Rail infill runs. It’s used between structural end/terminal posts to help support and guide the cable infill and reduce cable deflection (sag) over longer spans.

Cable Support
Unlike end or structural posts that anchor and tension cable, intermediate posts simply allow the cable to pass through at a fixed spacing — giving visual consistency and added rigidity to the railing lines.
Helps Meet Code & Performance
Building codes often limit the supported spacing between rails based on the 4" sphere rule (a 4″ sphere should not pass through the railing). Intermediate posts help comply with spacing requirements by breaking larger spans into smaller cable runs. Most guidelines suggest keeping open spans under 4 ft unless additional support like this post is added.

- Used between structural posts: You install these posts in between two main posts along a railing run.
- Cable spacing: Designed with proper hole spacing that matches the RDI Transform 3″ cable layout.
- Cable routing: Cables run through the intermediate post holes to stay straight and maintain spacing.
They don’t carry tension from cable anchoring — that’s done at the end posts or structural posts — but they help keep the system tight, straight, and code compliant.
