What “2-to-3 Rail” Means

On the RDI Avalon Aluminum Railing system, standard panels have two horizontal top rails (one at standard handrail height and one below). A 2-to-3 conversion uses an adapter + brackets to add a third rail — either for aesthetic appeal or to meet custom height/design preferences.

  • Pair with the Avalon 2-to-3 Adapter: The adapter lifts and extends your top rail runner so a third rail can be installed.
  • Bracket Kit: The brackets secure the adapter and rail to your existing railing posts.

2‑to‑3 Rail Bracket Kit for Avalon Railing – This is the basic bracket set used with Avalon’s 2-to-3 rail conversion system. It’s intended to attach the 2-to-3 Rail Adapter (sold separately) to your Avalon railing posts, allowing you to mount an additional (third) rail above the standard pair for a more decorative or taller railing appearance.

  • Includes the brackets needed at each post (top/bottom support points)
  • Matches Avalon’s powder-coated finishes (Matte Black, Matte Bronze, White)
  • Works with the RDI Avalon system’s pre-assembled panels and ProLock® baluster locking design

Barrette Avalon 2‑to‑3 Rail Adapter – This is the adapter piece that actually raises the top rail and adds the third rail on your panel. The brackets (above) mount this adapter to the rails and posts, converting a standard 2-rail Avalon panel into a 3-rail layout.

This bracket kit is used to mount the 2-3 Rail adaptor to the Avalon Railing. This bracket allows the Avalon 2-3 top rail to be mounted to the post for both added height and also adds a unique look to your aluminum railing. Rust-resistant Avalon Aluminum Railing combines form, function and versatility — providing style, safety and security. The pre-assembled rail panels feature ProLock® locking strips that are designed to hold balusters securely in place. Avalon Aluminum Railing offers the ultimate in customization with four top rail options, including a unique preassembled 2-to-3 Rail Adapter* that easily attaches to create a distinctive 3 rail design.
