What It Is
The Azek Federal Post Cap is a slip‑over post cap made from Azek‑type PVC composite material, styled in the classic Federal profile (a subtle pyramid peak with soft edges). It’s designed to cover the top of a square post to protect it from weather while giving your outdoor build a finished architectural look.

PVC Composite Construction (Azek)
- Made from a PVC/polymer composite that looks and feels like painted wood but won’t rot, split, twist, or warp with exposure to moisture and insects — common problems with natural wood.
- Impervious to insects and moisture, so it’s ideal for exterior use in decks, decks, fence lines, pergolas, and patios.
- Because it’s PVC‑based rather than raw wood, it’s far more weather‑resistant and long‑lasting than a traditional wood post cap.
Paint‑Ready Surface
- Azek post caps accept paint beautifully, making them easy to match to nearby trim or railing colors.
- It’s recommended to paint the cap before installation — once painted, the finish helps protect the material from dirt, UV and moisture, and makes it essentially maintenance‑free.

Azek Post Caps are a great way to protect and enhance your fence or deck post without the worry of future maintenance. The Federal style offers a slight point at the top. It is recommended that Azek post caps be painted prior to being installed. Azek post caps accepts paint beautifully. Once painted they are 100% maintenance free. All Azek post caps and base trim are custom made. Usually one week lead time.

Azek products must be painted prior to being installed or they will discolor and void the warranty.
The following is recommended:
- AZEK doesn’t have a finish and that leaves the material subject to dirt, smudges, mold and mildew.
- Properly prepared and painted with even brush strokes gives the appearance of finely painted wood.
- A properly painted finish will last for years protecting the substrate from mold, mildew and the UV rays from the sun. AZEK surfaces must be clean, dry and void of any foreign material such as dirt, oil, grease or other contaminates that may come from normal handling, storage and/or installation prior to painting. Use a 100% acrylic latex paint with colors having a Light Reflective Value (LRV) of 55 or higher.
AZEK products WILL NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY if they are not treated prior to installation.
