Flexible Shim - B11 by Bison
What It Is
Bison Flexible Shim – Model B11 is a thin, flexible shim accessory designed to work with Bison adjustable pedestal systems (like Level.It™ and Versadjust™) used for elevated decking or rooftop paver installations. It’s made from a thermoplastic elastomer (rubber-like material) that is waterproof, durable, and flexible.
- Thickness: 1/16″ (approx. 1.5 mm) per shim plate.
- Purpose: Adds fine height adjustment, minor leveling, and noise dampening under deck tiles or pavers.
- Material: Flexible thermoplastic elastomer — impervious to water, mold, freeze-thaw, and outdoor conditions.
How It’s Used
Minor Height & Level Adjustments
B11 shims are used when a pedestal support surface is slightly out of level or when tiles/pavers have slight thickness variations:
- Under a pedestal: Place one or two shims below the pedestal base to even out small slopes or alignment differences between adjacent pedestals.
- On top of a pedestal: Place shim(s) between the pedestal head and decking material to eliminate rocking or height differences with tiles or pavers.
- Segmented use: These shims can be cut into smaller segments if needed for irregular adjustments.
Tip: Use no more than two B11 shims per pedestal to maintain stability and proper support.

About this product…
This shim is an accessory used in Bison’s Pedestal Products. These shims can be used on top of pedestals to dampen sound and/or prevent wood, tile or paver rocking. Bison offers a few different types of shims, differing by material. These flexible shims are made with a thermoplastic elastomer, allowing for more elasticity, whereas the Rigid Shim by Bison is made with mineral filled high density copolymer polypropylene and allows for greater durability.
