Deck Screws for Pro Plug System by Starborn for Deckorators Decking
How These Screws Work in the Pro Plug System
The Pro Plug system is a hidden surface-fastening method for composite decking that replaces visible screw heads with matching deck plugs for a clean finish:
Drive the screw into the deck board and joist using the Starborn PVC/Composite depth-setting tool.
- The tool’s Auto-Stop™ mechanism sets the screw to the correct depth so the plug will sit flush — no stripping or over-driving.
- Star drive recess and Type 17 auger tips make entry through composite board easier and help prevent splitting.
Insert a matching deck plug (made from real Deckorators board color/material) into the countersunk hole and tap it in.
-
The screw head and hole are completely covered, giving the deck a fastener-free look on the surface.
This system helps support both aesthetic and structural performance, especially on picture frame edges, stair treads, and perimeter boards where you either can’t use hidden clips or want consistency with the rest of the deck finish

About this product...
Deckorators Deck Screws for Pro Plug System are used to secure Deckorators deck boards to deck joists or framing. The screws feature a hex head for easy installation and a unique, 3-sided, beveled tip that bites into the wood fibers with ease. Stainless and Epoxy Coated Star Drive Fasteners: Epoxy Coated Carbon Steel, Grades 305 or 316 Stainless Steel screws are available in various lengths (from 2" - 3"). All screws feature a star drive recess and are ACQ approved. When driven below the surface with the PVC Tool, both fasteners create a perfect hole for the plug, without pre-drilling.
