What It Is
The Keene rollable furring strip (commonly marketed under the name Easy-Fur™) is a flexible, roll-on furring strip made from a durable polymer (entangled nylon mesh). Unlike traditional rigid wood or metal furring strips that come in boards or channels, the rollable design lets you unroll it along a wall or substrate and cut it to length easily.
This makes it much quicker and easier to install, especially on large surfaces.
What It Does
Furring strips are used to create an air gap (rainscreen) and ventilation cavity between a building’s structural sheathing and the exterior cladding (such as wood, fiber-cement, metal, or vinyl siding). This cavity:
- Promotes airflow and drainage, helping moisture escape instead of being trapped behind the siding.
- Reduces risk of mold, rot, and moisture damage by keeping siding off the sheathing.
- Improves wall system performance by preventing water buildup and enhancing drying.
