What It Is

The Avalon Cable Top Rail Kit with Brackets by RDI is a structural assembly designed for cable‑style railing infill within the Avalon railing system. It provides the horizontal support needed above cable runs between posts — serving as the beam that ties your posts together and gives the cable something solid to anchor to.

This kit is designed specifically for Avalon cable layouts and needs to be used with cable posts that are pre‑routed for cable.

What’s Included

Contents in the Avalon Cable Top Rail Kit include:

• Upper structural beam (top cable beam) — This runs horizontally between posts to support the cable infill.
• (2) Upper rail brackets — Hardware pieces that connect the top beam to posts and secure the assembly.
• Intermediate post connector hardware — To help align and support the beam at posts.

Note: The top rail itself (the decorative cap rail) is not included with the cable kit and must be purchased separately. Avalon offers top rail styles like Pellinore, Tristan, or Oberon in various finishes.

How It Works

1. Mount Routed Cable Posts — You first set your posts that have holes pre‑routed for cable (these are special Avalon posts meant for cable infill).
2. Install the Cable Beam/Top Rail Kit — The structural cable beam attaches between the posts using the included brackets. This becomes the top support for your cable infill.
3. Add Cable & Fittings — Cable lengths with fittings (sold separately) are run through the posts and tensioned to create the horizontal infill.
4. Add Cap Rail — Finally, the decorative cap rail (top rail) is installed over the beam if desired, giving a finished look and a comfortable handrail surface.

Level holes are 3-1/8" apart and stair holes are 3" apart.
