What Tyvek Wrap Caps Are
DuPont Tyvek Wrap Caps by Dupont and similar wrap cap products are specialized fasteners designed to secure DuPont™ Tyvek® weather-resistive barrier (WRB) house wrap and CommercialWrap to the exterior of buildings as part of a building envelope installation. Tyvek is a synthetic water-resistive barrier that protects wall sheathing from moisture while allowing vapor to escape, improving durability and energy efficiency.
Tyvek wrap caps are recommended specifically for fastening Tyvek WRBs because they help prevent the wrap from tearing or blowing off due to wind forces — a common issue with simple staples or nails alone.

Large Cap for Better Grip
The caps are large-diameter discs (typically 2″) made of UV-resistant, high-density polyethylene. Their wide surface distributes load over a broader area of the wrap, reducing tear-out around fasteners compared to regular nails or staples.
UV-Stable Materials
The cap material includes UV inhibitors, so it won’t degrade when exposed on exterior walls before siding or cladding is installed.
Multiple Attachment Options
There are several variants depending on how you want to secure the wrap:
- DuPont TYWCS134 Tyvek 2″ Wrap Cap w/ 1‑3/4″ Screw – Plastic cap pre-attached to a screw (1-3/4″ long), useful where you’re fastening to steel studs or other material that benefits from a screw connection. The screw’s drill point makes installation easier with a drill or by hand.
- DuPont Tyvek Wrap Caps StaplePac – Staple-and-cap kit that works with cap staplers (e.g., Stinger tools). Good for wood frame or general use where you prefer staple installation.

Looking for an easy way to secure Tyvek® products to steel studs? The Tyvek® Wrap Caps by DuPont are recommended for fastening any Tyvek® product – ideal for commercial applications. We offer two options for purchase with this product. The first option is the 2” plastic wrap caps (qt. 1,000) with attached 134” screws for use in steel stud applications (12 - 20 gauge). The 1-3/4” steel stud screws are self-tapping drill point screws, meaning that when turning the self-tapping screw with a screwdriver, it will dig into the surface while simultaneously producing its own hole. This makes installation easy and possible for people with varying skill levels and materials. These screws can be easily applied by hand or drill. The other option offered is the 2” plastic wrap caps (qt. 2,000) without attached screws. In both options, the 2" diameter on the wrap caps increase fastener holding power, reducing the potential for jobsite blow-off of wrap in comparison to the traditional 1” plastic and metal caps. DuPont Tyvek Wrap Caps are the recommended fastening method for DuPont Weatherization Systems. Further, this product is ideal for high wind load installations, where these screws can help prevent tear-off and keep Tyvek weather barriers from tearing off while they are exposed during construction.
